Aging doesn’t happen in a straight line. It’s a series of ups and downs—good days, bad days, setbacks, recoveries. This complexity drives our passion for the science on aging. We thrive when problems span across multiple domains—biology, behavior, epidemiology, social networks, biomedicine, digital technologies, and the built environment—where solutions require integration rather than silos. Our Institute serves as a hub that brings together scientists, clinicians, trainees, and community partners to advance aging research.

Our vision is to catalyze and foster impactful aging research and education by building collaborative networks, supporting scientists at every career stage, and expanding UF’s contributions to healthy aging. We are particularly focused moving the needle— ensuring that scientific discoveries move efficiently from controlled laboratories to real-world settings to improve lives. This includes developing and testing interventions, leveraging emerging technologies, and creating scalable solutions that reach populations of older adults.

Central to this mission is our commitment to supporting researchers. We provide infrastructure, expertise, and collaborative opportunities that enable high-quality, innovative science—from early-stage ideas to large-scale clinical and community-based studies. By lowering barriers and fostering connections, we aim to accelerate discovery and amplify impact.

Ultimately, our success is measured not only by scientific discovery, but by how well we turn knowledge into real-world solutions that improve function, support independence, and enhance quality of life for older adults.

We invite researchers and the community to explore our work, engage with our expert team, and join us in advancing the future of aging research.
