Institute on Aging Health Promotion Center

Contact and Directions

The Health Promotion Center (HPC) is a key resource for the UF Institute on Aging in providing a dedicated facility for investigators conducting clinical research involving the conduct of lifestyle-based interventions. The HPC offers dedicated space and experienced personnel to support the conduct of observational studies and clinical trials involving behavioral interventions such as physical activity and health education. The HPC consists of approximately 7,000 sq. ft. of research space including office space for HPC staff as well as:

  • A 200-foot cushioned indoor walking track
  • Ballet-style bars set in a mirror-paneled wall for balance exercises
  • Cable-loaded resistance training equipment
  • Health education group meetings
  • Cognitive training and assessment

Located conveniently within the ground floor of the Dental Tower on the Health Science Center campus, the HPC is available for research use by investigators across the UF campus. Space utilization is considered on a case-by-case basis and preference given to aging-related studies. Parties interested in using the HPC in their research should contact Dr. Thomas Buford, HPC Director, for further details.
